WHY EDIT

Good editing is effortless reading.

Editing is an invisible art. It eliminates distractions for a clear understanding of the key message. It identifies breaks in logic, and carefully rebuilds the story architecture. It gives body and flow to shapeless text. It is sensitive to the author's voice. And it always, always has the reader in mind.

Good editing helps to present the author's work at its very best: credible, professional, and engaging.

CONTENT EDITING

This is heavy editing. The focus is on the 'big ideas' of the text. Content editing checks the structure and organisation of information, and the development of themes, and identifies any inconsistencies or gaps in logic. This type of editing can require substantial writing and rewriting.

COPY EDITING

This is medium editing. The focus is on improving the language of the text. Copy editing checks spelling, grammar, punctuation, continuity, sentence structure, paragraph length, word choice, style, etc.

PROOFREADING

This is light editing. The focus is on correcting any production errors that may have occurred during document design or layout, e.g. typos or missing punctuation marks. It is the last stage of editing before publication.
